Description
Harmony Hill Country House does guesthouse accommodation its own way. The historical charm of the building is a key feature and is noticeable in the decoration throughout. The bedrooms are uniquely designed – one example is the Up Up and Away room which has a balcony bed above the shower which can only be climbed into via a ladder. Harmony Hill Country House is comfortable, though, and accessible for guest of all abilities.
The five acres of stunning gardens that surround Harmony Hill Country House have been growing since the time of King George II. There is a restaurant serving dinner on request and it is in a location accessible for visiting any attraction on the north coast of Northern Ireland.
Harmony Hill Country House was built in the 18th century as a home for the owner of the Flax Mill. At the time the mill was the largest outside Belfast and employed around 600 people to make cloths for sails on ships. The building still stands today.

 

Location
Harmony Hill Country House is a couple of miles west of Ballymoney in a quiet and peaceful rural location. Ballymoney has a good selection of restaurants, cafes, shops and bars that can be explored by visitors. Portrush is 12 miles away while the attractions of the Causeway Coast (like the Giant’s Causeway, Bushmills Distillery and Dunluce Castle) are all a 20 to 30 minute drive away.
Several golf courses are nearby, including Royal Portrush Golf Course and Portstewart Golf Course. Coleraine is also close, with its extensive shopping, multi-screen cinema and theatre.

 

Features
Harmony Hill Country House is nestled in five acres of gardens which feature fabulous – and rare – trees like British and Irish Yew. There is a lake, two ponds and a water garden in the extensive grounds.
The building was built almost 250 years ago so oozes charm and history. The guest house that has been created out of this traditional rural building is unique. Take the rooms for example. They have modern facilities like a television and en suite bathroom facilities. But one features a bed above the shower accessible by a ladder; another has a vaulted roof room; while the Country Cottage room has traditional plaster walls and a turf fire.
Modern facilities are provided, like complimentary wireless Internet access. Breakfast is also complimentary and there is a choice of cooked or continental options.
There is also a restaurant serving food made from locally sourced ingredients. Lookout for the roasted lamb fillet or Ulster beef with Bushmills pepper sauce.
